What will it take to get us Americans to change our eating habits

The need is indisputable, since heart disease, diabetes and cancer are all in large part caused by the Standard American Diet. (Yes, its’ SAD.)
심장병, 당뇨와 암은 상당 부분 SAD(표준 미국인 식단)에 의해 초래되기 때문에 그 필요성은 말할 필요가 없다. (그렇다. 그것은 정말 유감스럽다.)

Though experts increasingly recommend a diet high in plants and low in animal products and processed foods, ours is quite the opposite, and there’s little disagreement that changing it (주어 - 그것=ours/our diet ) could improve our health and save tens of millions of lives.
비록 전문가들은 가공식품들과 동물성식품들을 줄이고 식물성 식단을 늘리는 것을 더욱 추천하지만 우리의 식단은 정반대이고 그것(식단)을 바꾸는 것이 우리의 건강을 증진시키고 몇 천만 명의 생명을 구할 수 있는 것은 이견이 거의 없다.

And ―not unimportant during the current struggle over budgets and spending― a sane diet could save tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars in health care costs.

Yet the food industry appears incapable of marketing healthier foods.
하지만 식품 산업이 몸에 더 좋은 식품을 판매하는 것은 불가능해 보인다.

And whether its (the food industry) leaders are confused or just stalling doesn’t matter, because the fixes are not really their problem.
